Almost a year ago, my husband and I found ourselves needing godly counsel. So we met with my old youth pastor and his wife and talked and listed as they encouraged us to continue seeking the Lord. Phil and Jeanne promised to pray for us in our situation and Mrs. Jeanne told me to read Lamentations 3.

The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words. I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, "The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!" The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord. ~Lamentations 3:19-26

Today, in my quiet time, I happened to read this again. Our situation hasn't changed much - God still has yet to make his plans clear to us. However, I still dare to hope! Because in this past year, I have seen mercies that have begun afresh each morning. I have seen His goodness and been able to rest in His love. So today, on this Good Friday, Jesus reminded me to continue to "wait quietly" for salvation.

My "sufferings" are nothing compared to what Jesus Christ endured for me on that cross thousands of years ago. "Jesus was perfect on my behalf" [quote from a Bible Study I'm doing called Delight or Duty] He died for me on that cross but PRAISE GOD, it doesn't end there! He rose again to conquer death, and the grave, and all my fears and sin! How deep the Father's love for me; how vast beyond all measure. That He should give His only Son, to make a wretch His treasure!

My life may still be in shambles from my earthly perspective. I'm still waiting for resolution; but our path was determined before the foundation of the earth and He is faithful! The Lord is good to those who depend on Him, so today I choose to cling to the Lord, and to wait quietly in the rest of the shadow of the cross.

It's Friday, but Sunday is coming!
