* Warning...this blog starts out very solemn. However, it does change its tone quite quickly. Bear with me as I blog about the myriad of things that are my life.


About Life: Yesterday my eyes were opened to the importance of a life well-lived. I was unfortunately priviliged enough to see both sides of the coin in regards to living your life. I saw a woman honored for a long life filled with serving others, loving her husband for over 40 years, and raising her children to love the Lord the best she could. I saw over a hundred people come in the middle of the day to remember a woman who had touched so many people's lives. Proverbs 31 was read - and she fit the description of a virtuous woman. (I want all this said of me.)

I also witnessed the effects of an unrepentant heart. I attended the funeral of a man whose presence on this earth, will not be greatly missed. I heard a minister who had never met this man, grasp at straws trying to find appropriate words to say to the 17 peoplein attendance, who weren't terribly sad to see him go. I saw a family grieve, not for the man that died, but for the havoc he created while on this earth.

I saw mercy and justice played out yesterday. I witnessed the plan of salvation in a more real way than any power bracelet, tract, Roman road, or evangelistic strategy can ever convey. I saw the effects of a life dominated by sin & Satan. I rejoiced over a life well-lived, dedicated to serving the Lord. It was a sobering day. I walked away from it all weary and weeping. I have a greater burden for the lost around me, and a greater passion for honoring Christ with my life.


About New Projects: I have a couple of painting ideas swirling around in my head. They're 2 different series focused on the words "hope" and "trust". I'm not sure how many paintings will be in a series but I'm thinking "hope" will be 3 paintings around the 8x10 or 11x14 size and the trust might be the same size - just not sure how many yet. Once they're finished I'll post pics - and if you want to have them in your home (or just one of the pieces) let me know.

In the meantime though, I need ideas for the paintings. 2 of the hope series involve flowers - 1 has a dandelion with the fluff blowing away and the other is cracked desert clay with one flower pushing out of the ground. But I need to finish the series and I'm stuck.

"Trust" will be centered around everyday objects, perhaps chairs or similar pieces of furniture - things we trust without thinking. (Thanks B-How for that idea!)

About Decorating: I've recently realized that I decorate in a minimalistic fashion, but its not because I want to. I always feel funny about going the extra step and getting the "fluff" decor to transform my house from a comfy living space to my ideal "home-y" space. This will be changing soon. I will add/change the pictures and paintings hanging in various places; I will scout out a great deal on furniture items; I will begin to decorating in casual contemporary style rather than minimalistic casual. (I have no idea if those are actual styles - but it fits my style). Look out world! I'm on my way to becoming the decorater I want to be rather than the decorater I have been. I'm looking forward to the fun.

About Fine China: I am going to start using my china. Andy and I said we'd use it when we put it on our register and a year has passed and not a single place setting is out of its box. But in just a few weeks, its coming out! Mom, Dad, - you'll get to enjoy at least one fabulous dinner on our china when you visit. I hope it turns out to be a good pre-Thanksgiving feast :)
