In the oven as I type is a homemade, completely from scratch, "For Better or Worse Apple Pie". Why is it called that? Because for better or for worse, my husband and I will be eating this for dessert tonight :)
I've never made a pie completely from scratch I don't believe. And yes, I did have coupons on my fridge for Pillsbury Pie Crusts...but where's the fun in that? So last night I bought some apples and as soon as I came home from work today, I got started. I have no idea how it will taste, but it smells delightful! The crust didn't go quite as planned, but after some finessing and creativity, I believe it should end up alright. The apples were on sale at a grocery store going out of business down the street so I have no clue even what kind they are, but apples are apples right? (Probably not)
And if all this adventure wasn't enough, tonight I'm trying a new recipe courtesy of one of the bazillion that Angela was kind enough to email to me! It's a chicken and broccoli casserole so its not too crazy - I don't want two kitchen disasters on my hands :)
Anyway, this is my day. Trying to soak up the last few days of the part-time life. That's right...remember that good news I mentioned several posts ago? Starting Friday I will be full-time at CARD! This comes with mixed feelings, since I love my afternoons. However, the extra income will be very nice and I do love my job.
I hear the oven beeping - time to remove the aluminum foil around the edges! Wish me luck...

interested to know how this turned out.... i attempted an apple pie once... only to come to the conclusion that, yes, it was very much worth it just to pay Mrs. Smith $7 for her frozen one.
I am going to need to know how to make that!
